How do I book a repair or an installation?
Through the booking form on this site. Name your Whitby community, describe what the door is doing, and give a window that works for you. A person reads every request and replies by email with available options. There is no call queue and nothing to dial.
What should I include if the door is urgent?
Say plainly whether the door is stuck open, stuck closed, off track, or hanging crooked after a bang, and whether a vehicle is trapped inside. Add your community and the safest time to reach the garage. Photographs of the springs above the opening and the bottom corners help more than a long description.
Do Whitby's heritage districts affect a garage door?
They can. The Town of Whitby has two Heritage Conservation Districts designated under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act: the Werden's Plan Neighbourhood district in Downtown Whitby and the Brooklin district covering Downtown Brooklin, designated in 2008. Their plans address architecture, streetscapes, landscapes and other visual features, and the Town adopted updated plans for both in 2026. Confirm your property's status with the Town before changing the appearance of a street-visible door.
My house is new. Should I be claiming warranty instead?
Quite possibly. Whitby Meadows is still under construction and selling, Taunton North had 20 per cent of its dwellings built between 2011 and 2016, and Brooklin keeps expanding under the Brooklin urban expansion plan adopted in 2026. A builder-installed door or opener may still fall under builder or Tarion coverage, so check the paperwork before arranging outside work.
Do you work on detached and rear-lane garages?
Yes. Detached rear garages are common on the older downtown lots inside Werden's Plan, listings in Whitby Shores describe detached two-car garages reached from a rear laneway, and rural properties in Ashburn, Myrtle and Macedonian Village often have separate outbuildings. Note the access route in the form so the approach can be planned.
Does Whitby's winter really change what fails?
It changes the pattern. Durham Region's own climate analysis puts the baseline at about 80 freeze-thaw cycles a year, defined as days when the minimum drops to −1 °C or below and the maximum rises above 0 °C, and the nearest official station records roughly 105.8 cm of snow a year with a January mean near −4.8 °C. That combination works on weatherseals, hardened rollers, cold-stiff springs and photo-eye brackets more than a single cold snap ever does.
Can you work on the door or opener I already have?
Usually. Include the make and model if you can find the label, plus photographs of the symptom and of the hardware above the opening. That is normally enough to identify the parts involved and confirm the right next step before anyone attends.
Is there any cost to submitting a booking request?
